Ask the supplier what their standard lead time is and what would happen if the pilot goes well but you need production quantities on a short timeline. That answer tells you whether they're set up to grow with you. Also, ask for at least two references from non-competing companies in your industry. If the supplier hesitates, that's worth paying attention to. Honestly, I'm not sure why some suppliers treat a simple request for a COA as a big deal. My best guess is that they don't want to be locked into a performance claim. But documentation is part of the product.
